Book Tag: The Halloween Book Tag

TheHalloweenBookTag.jpg

Happy Halloween bookworms!

I was tagged in the Halloween Book Tag over the weekend, and I realized that I hadn’t done a tag in quite some… What better time to post the Halloween book tag then on Halloween?

Big thanks to Kirstie @Upside-Down Books for tagging me in this one.  You can read her answers to this tag here → Upside-Down Books: The Halloween Book Tag

Let’s get started, shall we?

Carving Pumpkins: What book would you carve up and light on fire?

» Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James

51RhsdrKNHL._SX323_BO1,204,203,200_

I think this one is pretty self explanatory.  I loath this series.  If you have followed my blog for a while, then you may have seen one of my many rants about these books.  Don’t worry, I don’t feel like ranting today 🙂

Trick or Treat? Which character is a treat and which character is a trick?

» Faith, The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge

51uYkzBn5RL._SX329_BO1,204,203,200_

I am going to do Faith for both trick AND treat.  Faith is fiercely loyal to her father and little brother, which makes her sweet.  HOWEVER, she is definitely more than she appears and has a darker side to her as well.. making her a trickster as well.

Candy Corn: What book is always sweet?

» The Coincidence of Coconut Cake by Amy Reichert

thecoincidenceofcoconutcake

I’m going with a recent read for this one.  This book is definitely “sweet” with all the cooking/baking descriptions throughout.  Plus look at that cover?  Ok, now stop drooling…

Ghost: What character would you like to visit you as a ghost?
[no spoilers]

» Nobody “Bod” Owens, The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

 thegraveyardbook

I feel like Bod would make an excellent ghost.  I mean, he was raised by a graveyard full of them, so he has some experience in this department.

Dressing Up in Costume: What character would you want to be for a day?

» Delilah Bard, A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

51-CraQeweL._SX332_BO1,204,203,200_

I just love Lila!  Not only is she a total badass, but she is clever and witty to boot.  Lila is looking for an adventure, because she does not simply want to live, she wants to experience EVERYTNG life has to offer.  I would like to swap places for her just to experience one of her adventures.

You can read my review here → Book Review: A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

And no, I haven’t yet read A Gathering of Shadows because I am failing at life.

Wizards and Witches: What’s your favorite Harry Potter moment?

Can I just say all the moments?  Seriously, how do you pick just one moment?  Instead of picking a moment, I think I will just share my favorite book in the Harry Potter series…

» Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling

harrypottergof

The 4th Harry Potter was my absolute favorite book in the series.  Witches and wizards from different schools all coming together to participate in the Triwizard Tournament?  Yes, please!

Blood and Gore: What was a book that was so creepy that you had to take a break from it?

» Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King

51Tt8+xJKYL._SX319_BO1,204,203,200_

There is one part in particular in this book that I had to stop and take a moment to gather the courage to continue on.  I wouldn’t say this particular part is creepy, but more disturbing than anything.  It is seriously f***ed up.

It would be pretty useless to tag people seeing as it is Halloween today… I mean who is going to complete this tag AFTER Halloween?

If you have any books that fit these categories, please share what your answers would be in the comments bellow!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Halloween!

Happy Reading 🙂

  1. I had every intention of doing this tag today too. Let’s hope I can get it done! If not, then I’ll have to wait till next year, I guess. But anyway, I have to agree with you when you said it’d be cool to be Lila Bard for a day. She’s AWESOME. One of my fave characters. ❤️

  2. Haha great answers! The fourth HP book is pretty darn fantastic, that’s for sure! My favourite is totally the third one though. I’ve been itching to read The Graveyard book ever since I finished Stardust like a year ago! I bet it’s just as crazy and fantastic 🙈

  3. Fun tag! I feel lame for not doing anything Halloween themed this year, but I couldn’t muster the energy lol. Oh, well. There’s always next year!
I approve of your burning the Fifty Shades of Grey series 😉
And my favorite HP book is Prisoner of Azkaban, but Goblet of Fire is right behind it!

    1. All you do is create your own post by copying the prompts and select the books you would chose for each prompt! You can even tag other blogger friends to do them too. When you are tagged to do a tag, generally you want to link back to the blogger that tags you. Consider yourself tagged to do this one if you want to complete it!

  4. Well I still can’t figure out the tag thing….where are the prompts?…i’m old ;-)…on another note…I was so glad that I am not the only one who hated “Fifty Shades of Gray”…I am not above some soft porn but that book must have been written on a third grade reading level…with so many typo’s I lost count…and finally, the thought of my daughter (and she is older then you) being in such a relationship completely turned me off to the rest of the series.

  5. All your book choices are So Great. Yay, you read ADSOM!! Isn’t Lila Bard is such a badass? I’m reading The Lie Tree right now. I’m about halfway through and just caught a glimpse of Faith’s dark side you mentioned. Hmm, it’ll be interesting to see where this goes. . .
