Bookish Spreadsheet Templates: 2019 Reading & ARC Tracking Spreadsheets

Midway through 2018 I started utilizing Google Sheets to keep myself more organized in my blogging & reading life.  I really wish I had started using spreadsheets sooner!

At the start of 2019, I decided to revamp my spreadsheets.  Not only that, I decided to share a a few of my spreadsheet templates with you all!


I would like to mention that I did not come up with the idea to keep a spreadsheet for reading or for keeping track of ARCs.  I’ve seen many bloggers share their own spreadsheets over the years.  I’ve basically taken ideas from various other spreadsheets to create my own.

I should also mention that this spreadsheet was created in Google Drive.  In order to download these spreadsheets, you’ll need your own Google account.

The first spreadsheet template I am going to share is a reading spreadsheet.  This particular spreadsheet is tailored to someone who reviews books, but can easily be tweaked by deleting columns to those who do not review books.


Some of the information that I include on my reading spreadsheet:

  • Book title
  • Author name
  • Status (unread, reading, read, DNF)
    • DNF stands for Did Not Finish
  • Month read
  • Review status (no review, not started, drafting, scheduled, published)
  • Format (paperback, hardback, eBook, audiobook)
  • Source (own, library, ARC, borrowed)
  • Genre
  • Target audience (adult, YA, or MG)
  • Page number
  • Series or standalone
  • Book number in series (if applicable)
  • Star rating

This is the information that I personally like to keep track of.  Like I mentioned, you can easily delete or add columns to customize this spreadsheet to your needs.

But wait!  There’s more!

If you notice there is another tab on my spreadsheet template titled “ARC tracking spreadsheet”

Not only do I have a reading spreadsheet, I have a spreadsheet to keep track of ARCs!  For those of you that don’t know, ARC stands for advanced reader copy.  ARCs are pre-published books that publishers send out to reviewers in exchange for an honest review.  You do not have a blog in order to be eligible to receive ARCs.  You simply need some type of social media platform in which to share your reviews: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Goodreads, etc.

Anyways!  Here is a look at my ARC tracking spreadsheet…


The information I include on my ARC tracking spreadsheet:

  • Book title
  • Author
  • Status (unread, reading, read, DNF)
  • Publishing date
  • Review status (not started, drafting, scheduled, published)
  • Genre
  • Format (print or eBook)
  • Source (author, publisher, NetGalleyEdelweiss, other)
  • Source follow-up
    • Did you post to NetGalley?  Did you send the publisher (author) an email with the review link?
  • Publisher
  • Star rating

Directions to copy these spreadsheets:

  1. You’ll need to copy the spreadsheet to your own Google Drive.  In your own Google Drive, open a new spreadsheet. You will need to name the spreadsheet – located in the top left corner of the spreadsheet.
  2.  Come back to this post and click the Spreadsheet Link above.  At the bottom of the spreadsheet there are two tabs labeled “Reading Spreadsheet Template” and “ARC Tracking Template.”  Click on the tab of the spreadsheet you want to copy.  On that tab, click the little triangle to the side of the tab label.  From that menu, you select “Copy to…”

3. Once you hit the “Copy to…” button, a box will pop up.  From this box, you should see the new spreadsheet you had just created and named.  Select that spreadsheet.

4. Now the spreadsheet is copied into your Google Drive!  Simply go and open your spreadsheet, and you’ll see a new tab with the copied spreadsheet.

5. Repeat these steps to copy the other spreadsheet if you would like both spreadsheets.

  1. I don’t use a spreadsheet to track my reading, but I’ve thought about it. I track all my blog stuff in Microsoft OneNote. I have a new tab for each book review and related details. But I means I don’t get to do any data dumping and charting… which, honestly, might be fun! I might use this. Thank you for sharing!!

    That said, I do use a spreadsheet to track my blog posting. It helps me visualize what I need to do to stick to my goals. I really enjoy that spreadsheet, so I’ll probably enjoy this one too. Thanks.


  2. The big scary task is making the spreadsheet of all the books you OWN. However, I’d argue it’s not as scary as it sounds. Touching and looking at my books makes me very exciting and wishing I could just lay on the books and read them through osmosis.


  3. Ahhh your spreadsheets are so great Amanda, love them! I also like to use spreadsheets, but I’m only using one for blogging and one to track my ARCs, I don’t use a reading spreadsheet at all… I might be a bit lazy, because I often forget to update my goodreads, so that spreadsheet would be a mess 😂


  4. I like these spreadsheets – thank you for the template!! I’m wondering where you keep your data table for the menu options? I’m looking to add the option of new or used books as well as add a rating scale based on which I want to read the most.
