Book Event: Stephen King’s End of Watch Book Tour

If you follow my blog posts, you may remember that I had scored tickets to go see Stephen King!  You can read all about the stress and excitement of scoring these hard to get tickets here → Bookish Dreams Do Come True! Stephen King Book Tour.

This tour was to  promote his most recent book release, End of Watch, which is the 3rd and final installment in the Bill Hodges Trilogy.  You can read my reviews of Mr. Mercedes here → Book Review: Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King and Finders Keepers here → Book Review: Finders Keepers by Stephen King.

Last Thursday, June 9th,  finally came and went…I am still in disbelief that I got the chance to see Stephen King speak.  I mean who HASN’T read one of his 50+ novels or at the very least, heard of him?  This event was HUGE for our city… I think the last time Stephen King came to Dayton, Ohio was in the 1980’s?  Don’t quote me but I thought it was ’88?  Can I get a fact check on that one?  If that is indeed correct, it would have been almost 30 years since he was last here!

I’m baaaaaaaack!  I can’t even begin to tell you how much I missed my blog life while I was away on vacation… I was having serious blogger withdrawals.  I did my best to keep up with everything going on around the bookish blogosphere, but you all are such rock stars that it was impossible for me to read every post that I missed.  After one day, I had 150 emails of posts that I missed from book bloggers that I follow.  I wish I had a pause button for times like these!

My family and I had an AMAZING vacation to Wyoming!  In my opinion, it is one of the most beautiful states in the U.S.  We stayed in Jackson Hole and had a great time exploring Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone.  If you like mountains, nature, and hiking, Wyoming is the place to be!

Of course I had to take some bookish pictures too 🙂  The first picture is a Little Free Library within walking distance of our rental home.   With the mountains in the background, this was the most beautifully placed little free library that I had ever seen.  Actually, I’m trying to convince my Dad to build me my own Little Free Library… I’m adding it to his to-do list.  The second picture is of a traveling library!  I thought it was such a neat concept.  I’ve seen bookmobiles before, but never a library pulled by a bike!

We finally got home at 2am this morning after a LONG day of traveling that began at 4am.  I am currently suffering from the worst vacation hangover ever, but I’m happy to be home and back to reality.

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Words

Image [1553481].jpg

It’s that time of the week!  It’s Top Ten Tuesday time!  What is TTT? TTT is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.  Check out their blog for more info and to see upcoming themes.

This week’s theme was books I felt differently about after time passed.  I was having a very hard time coming up with books for this week’s theme…

Really the only book I could think that would fit this theme would be Twilight by Stephanie Meyer.  I read this book back in my early 20’s and really enjoyed the story line.  Now when I think back upon this series, I realize that there were a few themes that I am not a fan of.  I really don’t care for the co-dependent relationship.  Edward was very controlling and Bella fell to pieces and engaged in reckless behavior when (SPOILER ALERT) Edward leaves her in the second book…. I never thought the writing was particularly good, but I thought Meyer was a good storyteller.  I’m not sure if it’s because I’m older and now a mother of a daughter, or what.  I just know I wouldn’t want my daughter in this type of relationship.

Anyways!  I decided to do one of the past TTT’s and went with my favorite words.  Why are these words my favorite?  For the simple fact that I enjoy saying them.  When I come across these words in a book, I will almost always say the sentence out loud just to hear the word.  Let’s get started shall we?

Hello my bookish friends! Happy Sunday!

Some of you may have noticed that I have been MIA (missing in action) for a few days… at least someone?  Maybe? ((humor me here people))  I went on a girl’s weekend getaway for my friend’s bachelorette party!  We went up to northern Ohio to stay at my parent’s lake house on Lake Erie.  It was a blast!  It was a hard trip since it was the first time I had ever left my 2-year-old and of course she was sick to boot, but Daddy was a champ and held down the fort while I was gone.  I must admit, as much as I missed my husband and kids, it was nice to get away for a weekend.  Saturday night we took the ferry boat over to an island called Put-In-Bay and had a blast!  The best part by far was the ego boost we got on the island.  We were overwhelmed with the amount of guys buying us drinks.  Within the first 5 minutes, we each had 2 drinks and shots in front of us.  My friends and I are pushing  30-years-old, and two out of the four of us are married with kids, so we were not expecting any kind of attention.  It was nice to know we still got it 🙂

ANYWAYS!  It’s back to reality for a few days, then we are leaving for family vacation on Thursday!  I have been trying to prepare a few scheduled post for the 10 days I’ll be gone, but its not looking too promising… I just wanted to make sure I don’t disappoint any of my adoring fans… ((hint: that’s you))

Let’s get down to business…
