Book Review: Miller’s Valley by Anna Quindlen

MillersValleyCov.jpg

Miller’s Valley had all the elements that I usually enjoy in a book: family secrets, coming of age theme, small town drama, etc etc.  Despite all the potential, this one came up short for me…

Happy Sunday bookworms!

How was your weekend?  Mine was fairly low key, which is a rare occurrence around here.  I took full advantage and worked hard at chipping away my ridiculously long back log of book reviews.  I am planning on getting 2-3 of these reviews up on the blog this week, so stay tuned for a book review overload!

Let’s see what else I had going on this week…

*Weekly Wrap-Up is a weekly post where I feature what posts were published on the blog for the past week, any bookish/blog happenings, noteworthy posts around the bookish blogosphere, what I recently finished reading, what I am currently reading, and what I will be reading next.

Bookish Babble: Setting Goals for 2017

BBGoals.jpg

Do you set goals for yourself at the start of each year?

I find that setting goals at the beginning of every year helps to keep me motivated throughout the year.  I am so big into making goals, that I not only make yearly (“long term goals”), but also monthly (“short term”) goals.  That’s right, I love goals!

Hello my bookish friends!

I hope everyone who celebrates had a wonderful Christmas, and to those who do not celebrate, I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  My family and I had a wonderful Christmas full of family time, gifts, food, and fun.  I could not ask for more.  I cannot wait to share with you all my amazing Christmas book haul.  My husband really spoiled me.

As per usual, I have grossly underestimated my free time around the holidays, which is why I’ve been MIA for the past week or so.  Even this wrap-up is going up a day late.  Oops.  I hope you will all be patient with me while I play a little catch up.

Book Review: A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

amonstercallscover

When my book club was throwing around book ideas for our October book of the month, A Monster Calls immediately came to mind.  I wanted something “Halloween-ish but not scary” and on the shorter side because October tends to be a busy month for most people.   A Monster Calls was definitely outside of most of the groups comfort zones, but it ended up being a big hit.
