Happy Sunday bookworms!
After a week of straight rain here in Ohio, the sun is finally out! It is ridiculously cold and windy for May, but I’ll take a little sun after all the rain.
I had a FANTASTIC week both in regards to reading and blogging. I read what is sure to be one of my top books for 2017! I’ll give you a hint, it is the 3rd and final installment in one of my favorite series ever 🙂 Can you guess what I read? After a sparse blogging month in April due to a blog redesign and travel, I kicked off May with a bang!
Let’s see what I had going on this week, shall we?
*Weekly Wrap-Up is a weekly post where I feature what posts were published on the blog for the past week, any bookish/blog happenings, what I recently finished reading, what I am currently reading, what I will be reading next, noteworthy posts around the bookish blogosphere, and any interesting bookish articles I came across.

Anne of Green Gables Read Along 2017 (Hosted by Jane @Greenish Bookshelf)
» I received my copy of Heir of Illaria that I won in a giveaway hosted by Stephanie @TeacherofYA! I actually received it last Saturday, but the sun was hardly out this past week for me to take some pictures of this gorgeous book. The sun did come out yesterday morning/afternoon, which gave me the opportunity to run outside to snap a few pictures, but then it started raining AGAIN. I’m over it Ohio. It was actually hard to take picture of this book as the cover is super glossy, creating a glare in most of my pictures #BookPhotographyProblems BUT this cover is absolutely stunning in real life!
» I am taking part in Jane @Greenish Bookshelf ‘s Anne of Green Gables Read Along, which I announced earlier today here → Anne of Green Gables Read Along 2017 (Hosted by Jane @Greenish Bookshelf) I’ve been meaning to read this book for YEARS now, so this is just the kick in the pants I need to sit down and read it for the first time. Anyone else interested in joining us? We’d love to have you! Check out Jane’s post for more details.
» I won a portion of The Bone Witch Blog Tour Giveaway hosted by Pink Polka Dot Books back in April. I found out about this giveaway after reading a review on The Book Adventures of Annelise Lestrange, which you can read here →The Bone Witch, by Rin Chupeco (The Bone Witch #1). Now I didn’t win the grand prize which was an autographed copy of The Bone Witch BUT I did win a bottle cap necklace and a crochet Tea doll that arrived this week…. so I took this as an excuse to buy the book. Legit reason right? My copy arrived yesterday and it is stunning!

» A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab
The perfect ending to a perfect series. Anoshe.
Currently reading:
» The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel
I am about 36% through this one. So far, so good! I had a hunch about what this book was really about after reading so many reviews, and I was right. I got to page 30-something and the bomb is dropped. My first thought was “well that escaladed quickly.”
» Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
I am about 70% through this one. I honestly am not sure what my feelings are about it yet. There are parts I am enjoying, and other parts not so much. I guess I will see how it pans out in the end.

Thanks Danielle! Oh man The Roanoke Girls. Should I feel bad that I wasn’t more shocked or put off by the subject matter? I would love to hear what the author tells people when they ask what the book is about 🤣

Haha I asked myself the same.. is it wrong that this is not disturbing me more or that I love this book so much!?

A Conjuring of Light really was a perfect finale, I’m so glad you feel this way just as well. I cried a lot and it was such a rollercoaster from beginning to end, but so worth it 🙂
Thank you for sharing my post, Amanda! Have a lovely week!! ❤

I’ve seen many people who were disappointed with the unanswered questions, and I was a little too, BUT I couldn’t help but love the conclusion.
You’re so welcome Marie! Keep ’em coming and I’ll have posts to feature 😉

ACOL is one of my top reads so far this year as well! I’m going to miss the characters and their world… At least I have a Delilah Bard namesake closeby. 😉 Congrats on the giveaways! And I will be looking forward to your thougths on The Roanoke Girls. Have a great week! ❤

Ahhhhh Delilah Bard lives on! I see what you did there. You just couldn’t let go 😉 Ahhhh The Roanoke Girls. Where do I Event start to review that book 😅 You read it right?

I literally got her less than a week after finishing ACOL, so I just couldn’t resist haha. I still haven’t read The Roanoke Girls, but I’m definitely planning to do so this year! I’ve heard lots and lots of excellent things about it.

I just started the Bone Witch. I have to say, the writing has me feeling skeptical already. Lol. But I’m still interested in the plot.

Oh no! I’ve heard it’s a slower paced book….

Currently I’m not in love with the heroine and her special snowflake status. We’ll see if that changes…

As always, you had an amazing week, Amanda! I love it. Congrats on all your giveaway wins! That’s huge. 🙂 It’s so fun winning giveaways. I’m glad you finally finished A Conjuring of Light– it was so hard to finish it! I also recently read Their Eyes Were Watching God. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but you’re right, it’s hard to parse out feelings for it. In the end, well… my review is coming soon. 🙂

Thanks Jackie! I’ve seen some people that were disappointed with the questions left unanswered in ACOL, which I was a little too, BUT I still LOVED the conclusion ❤️
I finished Their Eyes Were Watching God today and enjoyed it, but also felt the storyline was a little disjointed at times… I can’t wait to see your review!

The only question I want answered from ACOL is what happens with continuing the royal line? How does that whole system change? Because, that’s a brilliant socio-political commentary I’d love to see roll out at some point.

Maybe she’ll do a spin off?!? 🤞🏻

Only if none of the original main characters return. I feel like their story arcs are appropriately done. Perhaps we can learn about this through rumor and world building? 😉

Happy week Amanda! I also guessed it by reading other reviews, so I was kind of glad we were told so early in the story. I really liked the book! Not perfect by any means but I enjoyed it and loved her relationship with that guy (forgot the name lol)

I loved that the relationship didn’t cure the fact that they were both “messed up”…. if that makes any sense.

Yes, but I also liked that he had changed. I don’t know why, but I was really rooting for them.

Hey there! I came down to your blog cause we happen to be the two buddies of Jackie B. who she mentioned as the people who poked her back to blogging 🙂 so I’ve decided I should get to know you as well 🙂
There’s an Anne of Green Gables read-along? Man, that sounds good, it’s also been on my list of “One day”. I will check it out!
Anyway, nice post and very nice to meet you 🙂
