Happy Sunday bookworms!
I cannot believe that Christmas is only a week away! I woke up this morning in a panic because I hadn’t realized how quickly Christmas crept up on me this year. I remembered this morning that I had yet to put anything together for my kids’ teachers, neighbors, or any miscellaneous people.. so I’ve been running around doing that today. For my kids’ teachers, I made these cute little “movie night” kits that included candy, peanuts, cocoa mix, microwave popcorn, and a gift card to purchase a movie.
Thank you Pinterest!
Anyways, let’s get down to bookish business…
*Weekly Wrap-Up is a weekly post where I feature what posts were published on the blog for the past week, any bookish/blog happenings, noteworthy posts around the bookish blogosphere, what I recently finished reading, what I am currently reading, and what I will be reading next.
This week on the blog:
Tuesday 12/13
Blog Award: The Liebster Award (Part 2)
Thursday 12/15
Book Review: The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead
Friday 12/16
Book Review: A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
Bookish/Blog happenings:
» I won a copy of Human Acts by Han Kang. I have had lots of luck winning giveaways on Twitter this year! I know this is awful to say, but I am secretly hoping it is the hardback version because I am not a fan of the paperback cover. I know, I know… I am terrible. BUT just look at the hardback cover…
Around the blogosphere:

Recently finished reading:
*All titles link to Goodreads
» Small Great Things by Jodi Picul
I am really looking forward to reviewing this book. After reading The Underground Railroad and learning more about the history of racism and slavery, it was great to read a book that dealt with present day racism. This book gave me a lot to think about.
» The One-in-a-Million Boy by Monica Wood
This ended being such a sweet read. The cover looks like this is a middle grade read, but it is actually an adult book. It gave me similar feels as A Man Called Ove, so if you read and enjoyed that book, you’d probably enjoy this one too.
» The Bad Beginning (A Series of Unfortunate Events #1) by Lemony Snicket
This is more like 3.5 stars. I actually think my issues with this book have more to do with the audiobook version I listened to versus the book itself. I may have enjoyed this more in print form. I may try re-reading this with my son to see.
Currently reading:
» And I Darken by Kiersten White
So far I am really enjoying this book. I can’t help but love Lada. Sure, she can be a bitch sometimes, particularly to her little brother, but I admire her strength. Other than The Red Tent, this is one of the only books that I’ve read that included a woman’s menstruation, which is refreshing.
» George by Alex Gino
I adore this book so far! This is such a wonderful book that can be used as a tool for educating kids. I will be re-reading this one with my own son.
On deck:
» Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

I’m just sitting here staring at the strange sweets in your little present. What on earth is a Buncha Crunch. I must try these strange anomalies. I’m so keen to see what you think of And I Darken! I so so so want to read it myself! And I’m 100% sold by you on The Underground Railroad.

Have you ever heard of a “Crunch” candy bar? It’s a crispy chocolate bar…so the Buncha Crunch are the bite sized version of the chocolate bar… if that makes sense lol

🤔 I think I might have heard of and perhaps even eaten Crunch bars. Sounds delicious!

I just picked up George from the library! I’m super excited to read it. I haven’t read Six of Crows yet, but the hype might be dying down enough that it’s time… We shall see. I hope you enjoy them both.

George was perfect! I will definitely be reading it with my son. I cannot wait to write my review for it! I’m dying to get started with Six of Crows! I’ve never seen a bad review for it, so I’m very curious about it 😊

Right?! That’s one reason why I can’t bring myself to read it yet– I don’t want to ruin the steak it’s got going on. I tend to do that, but not on purpose.
But, if you enjoy it, I probably will too. 😄
