Hello my bookworms, did you miss me?
(That is, if you noticed my absence)
I am back after a week long hiatus from the blog. I have never taken a hiatus from blogging since starting my blog back in February, but it was needed in order to prepare for a book event. I must say, I didn’t expect to miss it as much as I did. By the start of the weekend, I was really itching to get back at it. This is going to be a quick update, as I have so much to catch up on. It’s all fun and games until you are behind 7 book reviews and have not started any posts for the week…
*Weekly Wrap-Up is a weekly post where I feature what posts were published on the blog for the past week, any bookish/blog happenings, what I recently finished reading, what I am currently reading, and what I will be reading next.
Bookish/Blog happenings:
If you have been following my blog lately, you may know that this past weekend I attended my first book festival, Books by the Banks. In order to prepare, I wanted to read as many books by confirmed authors as possible prior to the event. This past week was crunch time, so I decided to attempt to read the 3 books still left on my BBTB TBR, thus the hiatus from blogging. I DID manage to finish 3 books this past week, but only 2 off the BBTB TBR. Close enough. The event itself was beyond AMAZING! I hope to have a post about it up later this week, along with my massive book haul of course 🙂
Recently finished reading:
Currently reading:
I am going to be starting this book tonight as it is my book club’s October book selection. I’ve heard such amazing things about it, so I am ready to dive on in!
Would you believe it if I told you I have never read this one before?
On deck:
How was your week?
What are you currently reading?
What will you read next?
Have a wonderful week, and happy reading
Welcome back! You certainly were missed. I look forward to hearing all about the BBTB festival!
Also, you are not alone in not having read Fahrenheit 451– I haven’t read it either! It’s on my TBR, but classics often get pushed down for some reason. It’s not shiny and new, I guess?

Thanks Jackie! It feels great to be back 🙂
I’m so happy that I am not the only person left who has yet to read F451! I am about 50% through and it is really starting to pick up the pace. I must admit, I didn’t really know what it was about before reading it. I knew it had something to do with burning books…Basically it is an alternative reality where books are banned, and if they are found, the fireman burn them. In other words it is a bookish horror story lol

Hence the reason I’ve never picked it up. I can’t even imagine. That is literally the world of my nightmares.

Glad to have you back! Hope you enjoyed the Books by the Banks Festival! Wish I had been able to go. Will we get to see what books you got? 😉

Well of course!!! What is a post about a book festival without a book haul?!
We had such an amazing time that we are already planning our next one in April. It’s actually in Kentucky in April! I believe you said you lived in Kentucky? If you are interested it’s called the Southern Kentucky Book Festival I believe… and one of the featured authors is going to be R.L. Stine!!!

That’s awesome! I am in Kentucky and I would LOVE to go to the next one, especially if it’s gonna be here. I loved Goosebumps as a kid, and my son loves the books/movies now too. So he would love it if I could go get his autograph 😉 Do you know what city it’s gonna be in? I’ll have to look it up.

It’s in Bowling Green KY! April 21-22nd 2017. I’m pretty sure that the 21st is Children’s Day.

😀 Great week, glad you enjoyed Fractured too!
I finished The Secret by Katerina Diamond and now I’m starting a historical read: The Strawberry Girl. Let’s see… 🙂

You can expect lots of “Fangirling,” pictures, and a ridiculous book haul that my husband would have a heart attack if he knew how much money I spent on books 😇

😀 Yay! It will be so fun to see. My husband enjoys reading, but he’s a library man. He groans every time I bring a bought book home. haha

That’s why I took cash 😉 What my husband doesn’t know won’t hurt him 😂

How was the festival? I’ve never been to a book festival. What was it like? Was it good that you read the books?

It was absolutely amazing!!! It was my first book festival, so I didn’t know exactly what to expect. It was so awesome to meet some of my favorite authors and get so many signed books. It actually was great that I read so many of the books because then I knew exactly which books I was going to purchase and which ones weren’t my cup of tea. I still managed to spend an insane amount of money 😇 it was worth it though! I will have a detailed post with lots of fangirling and pictures up later this week 😊

I’m so glad that you had such a great time at your first book festival! I’ve seen your tweets too and it looks like you had an amazing time. Yes, you were missed this past week, but it’s book related so it’s a valid excuse. LOL Welcome back!

I can’t wait to see your post about the event and your haul! I hope you had an amazing time XD Also yay to finishing 3 books in a week, I’ve seen Fractured floating around the blogosphere lately and I think I’m going to give it a go, good to see that you liked it 😀

Thank you! I definitely bought WAY too many books, but no surprise there lol I really enjoyed how the author set Fractured up. The format really added to the suspense of the story.

To be honest I only fairly recently read Fahrenheit 451 myself for a sci fi event – it might have been last autumn. It’s a very intriguing read. I also read Something Wicked this Way Comes by the same author and really enjoyed the creepy aspects – perfect for this time of year.
I hope you enjoy.

Good luck with Fahrenheit!! I struggled big time with that book 😩😩 maybe you’ll have better luck with it! I’m currently reading Blood for Blood (did you ever read the first one, Wolf by Wolf??) and oh my giddy aunt is it good. I’m planning on reading A Torch Against the Night next because someone is hosting a read along on Instagram! Can’t wait!

I have NOT read Wolf by Wolf… actually another book blogger friend just got on me about not reading it… AND I haven’t read An Ember in the Ashes either. For shame! What am I doing with my life?!
