Move over September, October has arrived!
October is my favorite month out of the year. The weather gets chilly, which means sweatshirts, boots, bonfires, football, pumpkins, apples, Halloween… Do I really need to go on?
Here are the books on my TBR for October…
BBTB TBR
Since She Went Away by David Bell
Cemetery Girl by David Bell
The New Neighbor by Leah Steward
Fractured by Catherine McKenzie
In preparation for the Books by the Banks Book Festival that I am attending in October, I will be continuing to read as many books by confirmed authors as I can until October 15th. BBTB is an annual book festal held in Cincinnati, Ohio, about an hour away from me, and will be my first book festival! I am super excited to meet authors like Maggie Stiefvater, Jenny Lawson, Tiffany McDaniel, and many more!
Not sure I am actually going to get these all read before the 15th, but I will definitely be reading Fractured and Since She Went Away.
October Book Club Selection:
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
I was beyond excited when my book club selected A Monster Calls for our October book of the month. I have been wanting to read this one for a while now, and when they wanted to do a “Halloween themed” book for October, I threw this title out there. I have heard high praises from some of my fellow book blogger friends, so I am anxious to begin!
Book to Diversify My Reading:
The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead
I have challenged myself to read one book each month written by or about a person (or people) who differ from me: people of color, people of different religions, people with physical or mental handicaps, LGBT+ characters, etc. etc. This month’s selection I decided to go with The Underground Railroad.
I haven’t read any of these books before so I’ll look forward to your reviews on the ones that you read. I’ve heard so many good things about A Monster Calls. Hope you enjoy it!

BBTB sounds exciting and I look forward to reading your post about it. I read the Underground Railroad this summer and enjoyed it. Combined with Homegoing, the two books about slavery sure do show a horrible part of humanity!

Haha sorry for adding another one to the old TBR 😜.
I can’t wait to read AMC! Everyone is so vague about it, so I know it’s just going to be awesome.
Bahahaha can you imagine her going through airport security with Rory? 😂

I’m reading A Monster Calls this October as well! The movie trailer sold me on it. And of course, all the amazing reviews helped. 🙂

Great TBR for October! Cemetery Girl and A Monster Calls seem especially appropriate for this spooky month. 🙂

Love the idea of reading one book a month to diversify your reading. That’s a neat way to read. I should do more of that. I sometimes get stuck in my usual genres and could branch out more. Happy reading this month! 🙂

Thank you! It was a goal of mine this year to start reading outside my comfort zones but I also decided to incorporate some diverse reads in there as well 😊
