 Happy Sunday bookworms!

Between my son returning to school and my daughter having a minor procedure done, my week has been hectic to say the least.  I had a huge reading week last week, reading 2 books and finishing up 1 other, but this week I didn’t finish any books.  With my son returning to school, I hope to have more time during the day while the toddler naps to get shit done.  At least that’s the plan…

I am about 50% though Furiously Happy and must admit that this book makes me hysterically laugh out loud… Lawson’s humor is crude and borderline inappropriate… just the way I like it!

I am 40% through Don’t You Cry.  Kubica’s books seem to always be slower e beginning, but once they get going they are a whirlwind of crazy… I am still in the set up phase and wondering where in the hell Kubica is taking this…

The final book on my August TBR list! Marisa Silver is another author attending the Books by the Banks Book Festival in October.  Little Nothing is set to be released on September 13, so I was very excited to be approved for a review copy via NetGalley.

    1. Thank you so much! My son is less than thrilled that school is back in session. He thoroughly enjoyed his days at home relaxing and going to the pool 😊. My daughter is well thank you! She just had tubes put in her ears. You know how quickly kids bounce back!

  2. Other than dying inside after reading my editors notes, I’ve been great!! Reread RIFLES FOR WATIE, a childhood favorite of mine. Also started rereading JOHNNY TREMAIN, another classic. I’m reading them to my sons so they can learn to love non-superhero books too! 🙂

    1. I’m not a writer, but I can only imagine what it feels like to receive editors notes… I imagine it feels like having your soul crushed 😅. I’ve never heard of Rifles for Watie! I have been wanting to find a good Civil War fiction! I’ve heard good things about Killer Angels… Have you read it? I’ve never heard of Johnny Tremain either… Actually my son loves history too, and Johnny Tremain sounds right up his alley!

      1. Lover KILLER ANGELS, read the works of that entire family!! Brilliance is clearly in their blood.

        JOHNNY TREMAINE is about an apprentice silversmith to Paul Revere at the outbreak of the Revolution.

        RIFLES FOR WATIE is about a boy who goes to war to try to stop the violence he lives with. He is on the Union side of the pre-war border skirmishes by partisans. His family is terrorized, his dad was a Mexican War veteran so he goes to enlist to do his part. Then he falls in love with a Rebel girl and the story only gets better from there!
