I LOVED this book!  It is such a beautiful coming of age story set in New Orleans during the Civil Rights Movement.  The plot twist literally blew my mind.  I can 100% guarantee that you will not see it coming.   You can read my review here → Book Review: Dollbaby by Laura Lane McNeal

I actually won an autographed copy of this book when Laura Lane McNeal held a giveaway via Twitter.  It is sitting on my bookcase now in all its glory 🙂

No one is more surprised than I am at how much I am enjoying this series!  I enjoyed book #2 just as much as I did the first book and that NEVER happens to me.  The Dream Thieves focuses more on my favorite character Ronan.  I am currently on book #4 and decided to review books 2-4 together when I am finished with the series.  You can read my review of the first book here → Book Review: The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle #1) by Maggie Stiefvater

» Biggest Disappointment

61UAcfOo4LL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_AmazonGoodreads

I thought this book was mildly entertaining but that was about it.  I thought the concept was interesting, but was disappointed with the execution.  It could have been so much more.  Not a whole lot happens in this book…

This one is for you Lola 😉  I was pleasantly surprised with this book.   I thought it was beautifully dark and eerie.

» Favorite New Author

I wasn’t sure if this is asking favorite author that is a new author or favorite author that is new to me… I decided to go with V.E. (Victoria) Schwab on this one since she is new to me.  Holy crap can this lady write!

So many books, so little time.  Here are a few books that I know I will most likely get to before the end of the year.  The Nightingale is actually my book club selection for August, so I am super excited to be forced to sit down with this one 🙂

  1. Thanks for the tag! I’ve been wanting to do this one for a while 🙂 And I really want to read so many of the books you mentioned, especially The Night Circus, The Raven Cycle series, and V.E. Schwab’s book (I’ve got A Darker Shade of Magic on my Kindle but haven’t got round to reading it yet!) Ohh and that Magonia cover is GORGEOUS. I want! ❤

    1. You are going to be busy with all the tags I’ve been throwing at you 😉. Omg The Raven Cycle!!! I love it! I thought book #1 was good, but they seem to only get better and better! ADSOM is another must read! Have you read any of her work?

Magonia is indeed a pretty face, but does it have anything going on inside? I think many people say it fell flat 😕. Lots of mixed reviews. I shall find out though 😅

      1. I am indeed haha! My overall tag list is like 30-strong at the moment. Oops! Ahh that’s good to know – I’m now really excited to read The Raven Cycle. I haven’t actually read any of V.E. Schwab’s books yet, but I may pick up ADSOM this week as I’m going to a YA event where she’s on one of the panels next week 🙂 I’ve heard mixed things about Magonia too, although I almost feel like it’s worth it simply for the beauty it would bring to my bookshelf haha!

      2. You are going to a event where Schwab is participating in a panel?!?!?! OMG! I’m so jealous!!!! I’m assuming you will do an entire post about the event?! I will live vicariously through you!

      3. Yesss and Maggie Stiefvater too actually! The event is YALC (which is a part of London Film and Comic Con). I went last year and it was awesome – it’s actually what inspired me to start my blog. I will definitely be doing a post on the event 🙂

      4. Ahhhhh!!!! All the best book events are across the pond 😢. Maggie Stiefvater is coming to Ohio in October, so I guess I can’t complain too much! I can’t wait to read all about your event!

  2. Yay you did it! Thanks for the shout out! 🙂 Always love reading your tag answers, and you’ll be pleased to know I have FINALLY managed to order a copy of Dream Thieves from my local library. I can’t wait to get my hands on it and learn more about why you love Ronan so much! 🙂 Also Cassandra Jean’s fan art is SO on point, right? She does so many gorgeous Shadowhunters pieces, too.

I’m desperate to start reading A Gathering of Shadows, or just any V.E. Schwab in general. I’ve heard so many good things about her writing/world building. WANT NOW.

  3. Both The Nightingale and The Night Circus are fabulous reads!! I’ve just finished A Darker Shade of Magic and are also looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I still need to do this tag… hopefully I’ll get to it before the end of the week.
