I am super excited to be completing the Beauty & The Beast Book Tag created by the lovely Kirsty @Kirsty and the Cat Read. I was deeply honored to be one of the first book bloggers to be nominated for this tag! Head over and check out Kirsty’s blog and give her a follow. You can read the original tag here → Kirsty and the Cat Read: Beauty & The Beast Book Tag.
Rules:
» Thank the person who tagged you
» Mention the creator → Kirsty @Kirsty and the Cat Read
» Match a book to each of the songs/characters below
» Tag as many people as you like
“Tale As Old As Time” – A popular theme, trope or setting you will never get bored of reading.
I will probably never get tired of historical mysteries that center around family drama/scandal.
Some of my favorites…
The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton
The Distant Hours by Kate Morton
The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
June by Miranda Beverly-Whittemore
You can read my review for June here → Book Review: June by Miranda Beverly-Whittemore
Belle – A book your brought for it’s beautiful cover that’s just as beautiful inside too
» The Butterfly and the Violin by Kristy Cambron
The cover of this book is absolutely stunning! However, the real beauty is WITHIN the pages. It was such a beautiful story of hope, love, and faith. You can read my review here → Book Review: The Butterfly and the Violin by Kristy Cambron
Beast – A book you didn’t expect much from but pleasantly surprised you.
» The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
“I went into this book with low expectations, however I am happy to report that I was pleasantly surprised.” A line from the first paragraph of my review for this book. You can read the rest of my review here → Book Review: The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle #1) by Maggie Stiefvater
Gaston – A book everyone loves that you don’t
» Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James
Don’t even get me started on this series. I will launch into a long rant.
Lefou – A loyal sidekick you can’t help but love more than their counter part.
»Fermín from The Shadow of the Wind
I just loved Fermín even more than the main character, Daniel. He was funny, loyal, and wildly inappropriate. What’s not to love? You can read my review here → Book Review: The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
Mrs Potts, Chip, Lumier & Cogsworth – A book that helped you through a difficult time or that taught you something valuable
» The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
This was a inspirational book about life told in parable form. I wrote a post about the life lessons this book taught me, which you can read here → 5 Things The Alchemist Taught Me About Life
“Something There” – A book or a series that you weren’t into at first but picked up towards the end.
» Hanging Mary by Susan Higginbotham
I thought the premise of this book was brilliant, however it fell flat for me. If it weren’t for the last 25% of the book, this book would have been a total flop. You can read my full review here → Book Review: Hanging Mary by Susan Higginbotham
“Be Our Guest” – A fictional character you’d love to have over for dinner
» Lou from Me Before You and Lila from A Darker Shade of Magic
I know, I cheated and chose two. Wouldn’t this be the best dinner party ever? I feel like alcohol would be involved…
I’d like to tag the following bloggers to complete this book tag:
Jess @The Mud and Stars Book Blog
Annelise @The Book Adventures of Annelise Lestrange
Lola @Hit or Miss Books
And YOU! If you want to complete this book tag, than I urge you to give it a go!
Thanks for taking part :). You’ve picked some good ones. I especially love your choice for Belle, I haven’t read it but it looks pretty!

It’s a WWII historical fiction however it was unlike any I had ever read before. You should look into it 😊

You had me at WWII 😂

Haha… I certainly would NOT like to have Lila for dinner. I mean, did you meet the woman?? She’s likely to drive a fork into my hand at the first sign of disagreement from my part. I’d much rather welcome Kell into my house. At least, the Kell from the first book, who wasn’t smoking!!!

But think about it, if you have Lila for dinner, then you can sneak attack her and get her out of the way, THEN take Kell for yourself 😉

Oooooo great choice of books!!! Don’t know if you’ve read them already but The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah and Necessary Lies by Diane Chamberlain are both historical fiction books and are two of my fav books of all time. I reckon you’ll enjoy them both! Great post by the way!

Why thank you! I literally have The Nightingale sitting on my bookcase as we speak. I can’t wait to read it! I’ve heard such wonderful things about it. I have never heard of Necessary Lies, but I can guarantee I be looking into it on Goodreads now 🙂 Thanks for the recommendation!!

Thank you so much for the tag! I’m so excited to answer these Q’s. I would love to have dinner with Lou, too. I still have yet to read The Raven Boys or A Darker Shade of Magic, but I really want to!!

This is one of my favorite movies! Lovely tag. I’ve never heard of a few of the books you mentioned. Definitely interested in checking them out!

Lou and Lila would be the funnest to have a drink with! Oh and I’ve heard so much about The Alchemist but I still haven’t picked it up yet 😦 I will soon! The only thing that I enjoy about 50 shades is that it’s really funny to flip open to random page and see how cringe worthy the line is XD My copy has water damage because the aircon dripped on it and I wasn’t even upset, I was justhappy it wasn’t one of my precious books 😀

I listened to The Alchemist via audiobook bc it is narrated by the man who voices Scar from Disney’s The Lion King. It was awesome!
Thank god it was the copy of Fifty and not an actual book 😂

Bahahah 😂😂 I think I’m going to give the audiobooks a go now I was looking for a new one and the narrator sounds awesome ☺️

I really want to read The Shadow Of The Wind! It’s going to happen this year lol. Lou would be a great dinner guest just as long as she brings a spare pair of bumblebee tights 😊💕

TSOTW was soooooo good! It is definitely a long and complex one though. Be prepared!
I wish I could pull off the bumblebee tights but stripes and the color yellow are NOT my friends 😂

Hmm It just may be for me then! I’ll save it for this fall. Lol I don’t think I could pull of stripes but I’d give it a shot lol.

Thanks for the tag – this one looks so much fun!! I’m a big fan of the historical family secret trope too – I love Kate Morton’s books, especially The Distant Hours. 🙂

I’ve only read The Distant Hours and The Forgotten Garden of hers. I can’t wait to read more. She is seriously amazing!

I’ve only read two as well actually – the other one was The House at Riverton which was great too! Also if you like her books, I think you’d love The Butterfly Summer by Harriet Evans – very similar style, and it was an amazing book. I definitely need to check out more Kate Morton books soon 🙂

I think I actually own The House at Riverton but I need to double check lol Isn’t that bad? I think I liked The Forgotten Garden just a hair better than The Distant Hours, but not by much. Oooo thanks for the recommendation!!! I’ll check it out on Goodreads stat!
