Juliet’s Questions:

Has there ever been a time in your life when you fell out of love with reading?

I wouldn’t say that I’ve ever fallen out of love with reading, but I am ashamed to admit that there have been a few times in my life where I went on an extended reading hiatus.  While in college, I took 20+ credit hour quarters and juggled the demands of a baby, so reading had to fall on the back burner.  Also, the year of 2015 was not a good year for me.  I was very sporatic in my reading…. I came back stronger and am determined to make reading my bitch in 2016 🙂

How easily do you part with your books?  Are you a sharer or a hoarder?

I am a self proclaimed book hoarder all the way!  I aspire to one day have my own library in my home.  I USED lend books to friends and family, but I’ve been burned one too many times… They probably think I’ve forgotten about my books, but I will never forget! My poor copies of The Forgotten Garden and Jane Eyre… Mommy misses you!

What was the last book that moved you to tears?

I’m not sure why, but The Shadow of the Wind made me cry.  It was tears of happiness.

Do you have a talent that may come as a surprise to people?

I can walk on stilts… my Dad made my brothers and I some out of wood beams when we were young and I was the only one who could do it.  We actually found them in the garage last year, and I was pleasantly surprised I could still do it at my ripe old age 🙂

If you could choose only one book to pass on to the next generation what would it be and why?

One book?  I have to choose one book?  That’s like asking me to choose a favorite child between my kids!

What’s the perfect edible accompaniment to a good book?

If I could have my way, I would enjoy a large bag of Trail Mix while reading a good book.  You have sweet and salty all in one bag.  I like variety.  Unfortunately, I cannot control myself while eating Trail Mix, so I am forbidden from buying any.  Mmmmmmm

5 Random Facts About Me:

» I am a Green Bay Packer’s Fan  (Go Pack Go!)

» I am terrified of spiders and water (lakes, ponds, oceans, big tanks of water – think Sea World, Olympic sized pools, etc.)

» I am a “classic middle child”

» I am a gym rat

» I have a hormone imbalance called PCOS – Let’s just say my husband puts up with A LOT of mood swings

I know I am supposed to tag people and come up with new questions and all that jazz, but I am literally racing to get some posts done before I leave for vacation.  Therefore, I tag…. ALL of you!  If this post tickles your fancy, please participate!

  1. Haha you’re so right to compare picking a favourite book to picking a favourite child. I’m really impressed that you can walk on stilts!
I’m also deciding to not share books anymore. So many of my books haven’t been returned, and I haven’t forgotten.

    1. Every time I go to my sister-in-law’s house I’m on the lookout for my copy of The Forgotten Garden… No luck yet 😑 When someone asks to borrow a book, I just come up with some excuse… I like to keep my books close now 😂

      1. Haha I’ve never actually denied someone a book, but my patience has been tested too much now, so I’ll definitely be making excuses.
Some of my books haven’t been returned in years.

Another thing I hate: books returned in bad condition. What were you doing with my book?? I didn’t ask much from you.

  2. Aww I hate when people want to borrow books and then completely forget about giving them back or THEY JUST WANT TO KEEP THEM FOR THEMSELVES. I just feel so uncomfortable saying no, because many people just don’t understand why we would, you know? Ugh.

  3. OMG wow ok, thank you for admitting to the water thing because I thought it was just me. I’m SO terrified of “deep water” (ankle height streams are totally fine, so is the ocean right by the shore but no more than past my waist). I think it’s because I’m also terrified of heights, and heights underwater… there’s just something about not knowing what’s down there! and not seeing it! that makes it even worse than being at the edge of a cliff.
Also, so feeling you on the book hoarding. I have mad respect for people who donate their books but I so cannot do that.

    1. Oh man. I had to do this last year when we did a scenic drive in the mountains of Colorado… It was the worst drive of my life! One slight turn and I would have sent my family to their doom…. NEVER again!
