It’s that time of the week! It’s Top Ten Tuesday time! What is TTT? TTT is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Check out their blog for more info and to see upcoming themes.
This week’s theme was books I felt differently about after time passed. I was having a very hard time coming up with books for this week’s theme…
Really the only book I could think that would fit this theme would be Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. I read this book back in my early 20’s and really enjoyed the story line. Now when I think back upon this series, I realize that there were a few themes that I am not a fan of. I really don’t care for the co-dependent relationship. Edward was very controlling and Bella fell to pieces and engaged in reckless behavior when (SPOILER ALERT) Edward leaves her in the second book…. I never thought the writing was particularly good, but I thought Meyer was a good storyteller. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m older and now a mother of a daughter, or what. I just know I wouldn’t want my daughter in this type of relationship.
Anyways! I decided to do one of the past TTT’s and went with my favorite words. Why are these words my favorite? For the simple fact that I enjoy saying them. When I come across these words in a book, I will almost always say the sentence out loud just to hear the word. Let’s get started shall we?
I always imagine a older, round gentleman with a mustache and a monocle saying this word… why? Who knows….
I would argue this is one of the most beautiful words in the English language.
I always think of Zazu from The Lion King saying “Impeccable timing, Your Majesty.”
For some reason this word always makes me giggle. It just sounds dirty to me… I know, I’m so mature.
What a fabulous word for extreme happiness!
This word screams “intelligence” to me. If you use this word in a sentence, I will always be impressed. I also think of a Jane Austen novel when I hear this word.
I’m starting to think I have a thing for words that begin with the letter ‘e.’ This is such a “classy” word. If you use this word, I assume you are sophisticated and cultured.
This is just a fun word.
This word just got thrown in and I enjoy saying it.
I’m also a fan of the ‘qu’ combination for some reason. Maybe because my maiden name had one and NO ONE could say it right. The ‘qu’ makes the ‘kw’ sound, NOT the ‘k’ sound!!!
I too love these words. They taste good tripping off the tongue!

I love fun words! Two words that I say out loud are effluvia and quay when I read them. I know there are more but that’s what I got off the top of me head. Word that I hate is moist. Ugh. I don’t even like how it looks.

I love words like nonetheless, nevertheless or ubiquitous. I can’t really grasp how to use the word ”quintessential” in a sentence.

Ubiquitous! Another fantastic word!!! I really wish I had a way with words, then I could use all these words in my every day life and posts to really impress the pants off of people 😂

Ooh I love all of these! Especially ‘preposterous’ and ‘eloquent’. I also really love words beginning with ‘qu’ – one of my favourite words is ‘quixotic’. My day job is working in Marketing for the Oxford English Dictionary, and one of the questions they asked me in my interview was ‘What’s your favourite word?’ – I couldn’t think of any ‘proper’ words, so I ended up saying that ‘squiggle’ was my favourite word haha…

Hahahaha what an un-adult word to chose 😂. Obviously they appreciated your word tastes since you were hired lol

I think that is the biggest reason why I will NEVER read the twilight series. Edward is dusty, and Bella just acts pathetic 99.9% of the time. I don’t think I would be able to take it. I couldn’t even make it through all of the movies! Great Top Ten! 😀
My Top Ten Tuesday!

Oooh, I love luminescence. A few other favorites are obsidian and oblivion. I know they sound similar, but still, they’re cool words. ❤
