Weekly Wrap-Up: 4/4-4/10/16

Happy Sunday!  I don’t know about you all, but I am glad THAT week is over.  I spent the majority of my week at home with sick kids.  Of course they never get sick at the same time, it’s always one after the other which makes it drag on forever.  Wednesday, my birthday,  my day begun bright and early at 6am with my son waking me up with a high fever, headache, and stomach ache.  Happy birthday to me!  I didn’t end up having to clean up any puke, so I would consider that a birthday win.  Friday through today was my daughter’s turn to be sick… I did not get so lucky with her.  Nothing says TGIF like your toddler yacking in your car at the bus stop.  The glamourous life of a Mom 🙂  Fingers crossed that everyone is on the mend and I can get out of this house tomorrow!

Speaking of my birthday, I turned 29 this week… I decided that I am going to stop at 29.  It is sad that I will not celebrate any more birthdays, but 30 just sounds so… old… No thank you!  I will stay in my 20’s thank you very much 🙂  For my birthday, my husband ordered some books off my amazon book wish list!!! What a good hubby I have!

And to top it all off he said this was only the first shipment and that the second shipment will not be arriving until the 12th!  I’m excited to see what other bookish delights I get for my birthday haul!

This week I also received my first ever paper copy book sent to me by a publisher to review.  I feel so legit now!  I can’t wait to read this bad boy.

  3. Happy birthday for last week! Sorry to hear there was so much puke involved 😦 Great book haul – I am rather jealous! I really want to read The Lake House, but it’s so huge and I’m a bit short on time at the moment. I’ve loved all of Kate Morton’s other books though – have you read any others? I keep seeing The Selection everywhere and I still haven’t made my mind up as to whether it’s my cup of tea – I’m interested to see what you think! And The Lie Tree sounds amazing – definitely on my wishlist.

      Yes, I have read The Forgotten Garden and The Distant Hour by Kate Morton! Love her!!!

      I am around 80% done with the Selection. It’s a cute book, but not a book I would have purchased… I downloaded the audiobook from my library. It is a relatively short book. The writing isn’t anything special, but it is an entertaining story. I can see it appealing more to teens 😊

      1. She’s a fantastic writer! The Distant Hours was probably my favourite 🙂 And that’s the kind of impression I got of The Selection.. it looks like a fun, not too taxing read, so I may give it a go when I need some light entertainment 🙂
